611. Front Circle Garden

Ruthmere Museum’s 16’ circle garden is a beautiful addition to the grounds. This carpet-bed garden is modeled after a bed of geraniums in the forecourt of Queen Victoria's "Osborne House" on the Isle of Wight. The garden is raised to better show the design and help with drainage. In the spring the circle is blooming bright with yellow daffodils. During the summer it is planted with red geraniums. Interestingly, in 1910 geraniums were only available in red. The vibrant red contrasts against the pale tan and cream of Ruthmere’s exterior.
